Stuff and Things

Well, there’s no real theme to this post other than I just wanted to get something, anything out today.  It has been a crazy past few days and I did absolutely nothing yesterday in an effort to try to feel a bit more rested.  So, the blog has gone to the back burner this week.

I often think that the four-day weeks after a three-day weekend are more punishing than a normal five-day week, and this week was no exception.  Nothing notable really happened.  It was just the normal day-to-day grind and sometimes that’s enough to knock me on my butt.

I have been reading Stephen King’s On Writing recently, and it has gotten my creative juices flowing.  He says that aspiring writers should strive for 1000 words a day.  I think that is a reasonable goal for most days, so I’m going to give it a try.  I think that will be in addition to whatever blog post I come up with on those days that I have a post.  I really want to pursue this writing itch I have and see where it goes.  I have no illusions that I will be a best-selling author, but it does provide a creative release for me, and I like that.

I honestly can’t come up with much else to say today, so I’m going to leave it at that.  I want to get something posted so I can remain at least semi-relevant!  Oh, another plug for my Facebook page HERE.  I’m trying to come up with content to add there to make it somewhat interesting.  Thanks to the reader who like it earlier today (you know who you are)!  It’s not as lonely with two likes now rather than just one.

Thanks for your indulgence, and I hope to have something out in the next couple of days that isn’t so disjointed.

  1. Oooh… facelift! I like it… Looks very professional. I’ve never read that book you mentioned, but I’ve heard several people say that it’s one of their favorite books. I guess I would just recommend writing everyday. It really doesn’t matter how many words or what the content is; as long as you’re writing, that is all that really matters. After being on vacation for those couple of weeks, I find myself really struggling to get back into writing mode again. I’ve been sort of sprinting lately. For instance… I may write 4 poems all at once and then not write anything for several days. Usually I’m writing at least 2 poems a day, editing my book, and also coming up with short stories on the side. Can’t seem to get back in the game lately. Feeling a little burn out I guess. So my advice to you… just keep writing. Even if it’s only for 10 minutes a day. You’ll kick yourself later if you don’t. Hope you have a great week, and hopefully the weather stays like it was today. Take care!

    1. Thanks! I had been messing around with the appearance some, and finally settled on that. I think the main thing I’ve learned in perusing King and advice from other writers is to write everyday. So, that’s my plan! Thanks as always for reading and commenting. It keeps me motivated.
